Essay: 

Hares and Rabbits were comon subjects for Rosenhof (for example the Hare now in the Pinalkothek, Munich, Inv no. 4991) but amongst his more amusing depictions of animals are the 'Capuchin Monkey in a Crate' formerly in the collection of Otto Naumann, subsequently sold at Christie's, New York, 26th January 2012, lot 301 ($ 134,500) and the 'Pet Deer looking out of his Stall' from the Knight of Glin's collection, sold at Christie's on 7th May 2009, lot 164 (£ 15,000).
